So let mercy come

[What I’ve Done – Linkin Park]

Today, Annie and Jen did their presentation for Understanding Australian Media, and since their topic was advertising, their group activity was to get everyone to design a billboard ad for a made up brand of chocolate called Ganache, and two groups had to make it super sexual and stereotypical, while the other two had to be innovative and family friendly.

I was in the super sexual group – yerp – and I was with Mai, Brian and Lisa, all of whom I’ve known for longer than this semester, at the least. We weren’t sure of what to do, so ultimately we drew something along the lines of cream being slathered onto these two little pieces of chocolate that looked like the heaving bosoms of a young maiden.

It was quite awkward to draw, especially when I was drawing the cream being poured, and Brian was sitting next to me hissing “yeah draw it, draw it good” to weird me out.

Anyway, unnoticed to us, we’d actually managed to draw something else even more crude. Let’s just say that the picture was structured to have two spherical shapes down the bottom, and in between these spherical shapes stood a longer looking shape.

I don’t think our chocolate would sell.

Ganache – let it come all over you: Mai and I co-wrote this slogan.

I’ve Broken My Heart So Many Times I’ve Stopped Keeping Track

[Haven’t Met You Yet – Michael Buble]

Day 07: Write about the arts (music, art, dancing).

Well, the very idea of writing about something is the arts, isn’t it?

And seeing as how I am studying the Arts, you’d think I’d have a lot of things to write about.

Look, I don’t like it when Arts make themselves more pompous and contrived than everyone else. I don’t like it when, to be considered High Class, you have to go see an opera, understand the hell they’re singing, get the deeper message, and come out of it complaining that the soprano was actually better suited as an alto.

To me, music, art, dancing, whatever, it’s just something that should be enjoyed. And if you happen to enjoy slightly ‘trashy’ music, or you would rather pump your fists to a steady beat than to draw out some complicated rhythm with your damn shoulder-blade, or your idea of art is to draw a funny stick figure comic rather than sweeping swatches of emotions, then that’s great for you, and if it gives you good feelings, then that’s all I care about.

And if you happen to like shoulder-blade dancing and fancy paintings, and that makes you happy too, then go for it!

The one thing I do not like about studying Arts is the expectation of what kind of person I should be. I am an Arts student, therefore I must understand and have an opinion on Marxism, and smoke a pack before lunch, and slowly but surely grow a terrible haircut.

But if that’s what makes you happy. I can’t care less.

Breakfast at….School

I haven’t posted anything in a while so I guess a quick “stuff-that-happened” won’t hurt.

Today was the senior school breakfast morning. So instead of sleeping in like we usually would day after parent/teachers, we went normal time to school, and it was bloody cold in the morning.

Anyway, got to school, lined up (well I cut in line but as a Yr 12 I thought it my right to, anyway) and waited for the food to be served. Well, no, it was a buffet style sort of thing, but still, waited.

Carmaine showed up, much to my surprise, because she said she wasn’t going then she was and etcetera…confusing.

Still lining up, and then the line moved forward and we all grabbed a plate. Beside the plates, a sign was hung, that read “$6 for a plate (which we all have paid already) and extra $1 for extra”. “Extra” meant whatever you couldn’t fit on your plate.

Ahh, all those hours of Tetris is coming in handy.

I asked for my food to be put in a certain way so that all spaces are filled, and nothing will tip over, I piled my plate rather luxuriously, in my opinion.

Too luxuriously, I wasn’t able to finish it all. But it was a gooooood breakfast. I sat with D.P., Carmaine, Est- and Lisa LB, just randomly chatting and eating. Carmaine and Lisa LB busted their plastic forks. Men.

Didn’t see Eunice, but she told me later she was inside. Bee was away today, and Fel was too lazy.

So that was my morning. The rest of they day was pretty normal, except I managed to side-track Mr Sho in class again today. Win.

Inevitable

Methods is actually rather enjoyable now that I’m in the same class with Carmaine and Shaz.

Well, I don’t remember much of Year 9 and 10 Methods anymore, but this year the three of us help each other and check answers with each other and it’s a rather friendly environment. But who am I to talk yet? We’ve only done Graphs so far. Wait ’til we get to Differenciation and Logarithm! Death.

Anyway, today in Methods while we were working, Carmaine and I listened to Inevitable by Anberlin over and over again. Thus I have done my bit to explain my title.

I wanna break every clock,

The hands of time could never move again.

We could stay in this moment (stay in this moment)

For the rest of our lives.

Is it over now, hey, hey is it over now?

I wanna be your last first kiss

That you’ll ever have.

Had a rather fun double free this morning. In P1 Dani brought in a huge 2L bottle of milk, labelled it for herself, and upon my questioning said that all her friends are welcome to it. Then in P2 Eunice came in and sat with us in the Common Room and we played some CDs and In The Summertime by Thirsty Merc came on so we both started singing loudly to it.

I don’t have a job,

I never liked them.

I just wanna play in the sunshine.

They say I was wrong,

But I know better!

I live my life like I’m dying.

Gimme a chance,

I’ll do my best to kick and scream and dance

When winter comes I’ll turn around…

So take me back to the

Sweet times, the happy nights,

Everything’s gonna be alright

In the Summertime,

Baby in the Summertime!

Last year, the only thing that cheered me up somewhat when I realized summer was coming was the thought that on a really hot day, and when I’m with Eunice, we can sing In The Summertime!

Keep Cool (just keep swimmin’ just keep swimmin’)

D.F.

P.S. Carmaine and Eunice both ran for their Form Captain today, as well as Ca-, so let’s see who gets it. I helped Carmaine a bit with her speech, and we randomly put songs in and Carmaine put in Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” but instead she kissed 12A and she liked it. In a dream she had.
