Undercooked sausages

Last night I went to Brendan’s new house with Amelia to keep him company while his parents hold a BBQ party where all the kids are younger.

Originally, the plan was to go wingman for him, because we thought there might be some daughters around his age for him to prey-uh…meet.

But alas, the closest we could get to were 2 14-year old male cousins. So, as far as winging went, Mela and I couldn’t do much.

Before we went to Brendan’s, we dropped by Ser-‘s house for to pick up some of Amelia’s stuff. Ser- was watching Sense and Sensibility but British shows put me to sleep, so we started watching Vampire Diaries. Because, yeah. In the end, we realized we couldn’t stay long, so I went through the episodes trying to determine for how long the show started with “For over a century I have lived in secret”. We found: Season 2 Episode 9 was when they stopped.

Mela and I missed the bus, so we waited 40 minutes for the next one. I had a headache, so we went to the Maccas for some Sprite and a chat.

Brendan’s new house is a few dozen times more amazing than his previous house – and his previous house was actually incredibly good for parties. The new house had one of those staircases which would perfectly suit Brendan’s needs to come sweeping downstairs in his prom dress. His bedroom is also much bigger and brighter – but he needs a proper bed. Also, better and bigger kitchen, an area just waiting for a pool table to be installed, and a really well designed entertainment area in the backyard. The only downside is, it now takes me over an hour to get to his place via bus.

His family, all from South Africa, had a South African BBQ, and despite one sausage being slightly undercooked – the one I ate – the rest was ASTOUNDING. One of the sausages, whose name I forgot, but it was a South African style, had a very intriguing mix of spice, and a firm texture, and I regret not eating more of it.

We were watching Shrek and Wall-E, and realized that Brendan could quote about 75% of Shrek with amazing accuracy. I suppose 4 years ago that would have been amazing, but I don’t know, just not as cool anymore. We also watched Wall-E on mute, which was fine because Wall-E isn’t a movie that you really need too much dialogue to, so we made up our own sound effects.

We also watched Supernatural on the computer after kicking his little cousins off. Amelia wasn’t as scared as we thought she’d be, so perhaps she can handle some mild horror in movies after all. Not that last night’s episode was any scary.

Spent the rest of the night hanging out in Brendan’s bedroom, and then got dropped off at Amelia’s house, where my parents picked me up.

Can’t wait for Brendan’s own housewarming/birthday party. Maybe I should try to organize games like I did last year.

[There’s A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven’t Thought Of It Yet – Panic! At The Disco]

Today I went to Mani’s house for lunch. I realized Dad didn’t leave food, and I can’t cook for shit (except eggs, and we were out of that) so I whinged to her online. She actually said yes to me going over for a free lunch.

Her mom picked me up (because, contrary to my beliefs, she actually lived around an hour’s walk away from me) and we started making some pizza! Making pizza from scratch! That was a first for me. Mrs Mani showed me how to make the dough (add some sugar with the yeast, it makes it activate faster haha!) and then we chopped up stuff for the topping. Mani never asked me to check if we had mushrooms so Mrs Mani kept on complaining that there was no mushrooms. (“Even three or four, for the flavor you know?”) Then she decided to experiment and make this Asian Pizza thing, using tuna and soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce.

While the pizzas were cooking (you know, we forgot to take pictures!) we went to play Wii. Failed epically in the Simpsons game. Ahh embarrassment! Then we had the pizzas, and let me tell you, I’m telling you so you better listen: After home made pizza that you made yourself, you don’t ever want to eat store bought ones ever again. Or maybe Mrs Mani is just really good at making pizza. The Asian fusion turned out really well, because the tuna smelled really good mixed with the sweet chilli sauce. Then Mani taught me how to toast a sandwich without a sandwich toaster. I think I still remember a few steps.

Eat eat eat eat eat eat eat eat eat eat eat wiiiiiiiii Guitar Hero on Wii, without the guitar controller was funny and fail.

Then got dropped off home before either parents came home. I feel sneaky.

I wish I took pictures. It was so delicious! Thank you Mani and Mrs Mani!

Chicken, cream, sticker

Last night we got a phone call from a family friend. They raised a couple of chickens as pets except one of them turned out to be a rooster (cos you can’t tell when they’re chickies). The rooster’s crowing a lot which is pissing their neighbors off, so we got a call from the guy, who was somehow under the impression that my dad can “do something about it”.

Well, he can’t, but we got the rooster anyway.

So last night the rooster slept in the cardboard box it came in, because it would squeeze under the gate otherwise or something, and run off, and there’s one rooster gone to waste. We fed it some rice grains and water this morning, and put it in the shade so that we don’t get roast chicken before it’s plucked, if you get me.

Anyway, dad can’t actually do anything about it, which is a dead pity because I’d wanted to see him try, and take pictures. That’s the difference between Carmaine and me, I suppose. Carmaine takes pictures of nice events, pretty people and clothes and scenery and momentos, and I like taking pictures of things being “taken care of”.

So dad called up another family friend who actually does know how to “take care” of a chicken. Its going over to their place in about an hour. I took a look at the rooster this morning (it had a sort of confused crow this morning. Sort of like “cock-a-doodle? Cock-a-wtf-is-this-box?”) and it was really really really robust rooster, shiny feathers and strong round body. Pity we won’t get to eat it. I was actually really looking forward to having it. Carmaine looked at me funny when I mentioned that thought.

Tomorrow is Julia’s birthday, so today at recess we had cake for her (and sang happy birthday AGAIN heaps of times AGAIN) and there was this really really large and (stealing Carmaine’s phrase here) orgasmically delicious cake. We couldn’t finish it all, so we brought it into Form. Theresa then proceeded to pretend to come hug me but instead wipe cream on my nose.

And finally, I came across Carmaine going to her locker during her Chem double, and so we chatted a bit, and as she turned around to her locker, I saw a sticker on her back and couldn’t stop laughing. Being a good friend, I ripped it off for her. It said “LOSER”.

And those were the 3 fun things that happened today.

P.S. I went to see Serpless. She wasn’t there. I won’t go to Baldock until I’ve seen Serpless. Seems logical that way. I’m taking control again, Bianca. Sort of.
