Then it said ‘mew’

On Friday night was Dani’s birthday dinner. On the train ride there, Mela pointed out that in my previous post, I’d gotten the sequence of events wrong, and Monday actually happened on Tuesday and vice versa.

We arrived at Melb Central late, and were worried that we’d held everyone up, but it turned out that everyone else were just really, really late, and we decided on having some hotpot for dinner, picked up Soph, and went to Little Lamb on Russell St.

Carmaine and her boyfriend dropped by for a few minutes but declined to dine with us, saying they were too poor. So, instead, Dani, Mela, Soph and I pigged out on the hotpot, aiming to eat more than the 25 dollar flat rate we paid, and we all chatted. April came along a bit of the way through and, despite not eating, stayed to talk. Mela and I realized that we were sitting on one side of the table while eating, and the other side of the table sat the three halfies, all of them good looking and none of them eating.

Saturday was Brendan’s party. Cindy and I went to Stud Park to shop for jello-shot ingredients with Mela, and then we went to Sam’s Warehouse to get shot glasses. It was cold and raining, and my hunger drove my caring girlfriend to begrudgingly buy me a sausage with bread.

We went to her house, and the other two made jello-shots while I went on Tumblr. Cindy accidentally spilled one shot while we were arranging them on this ceramic tray, and so not to waste, the three of us took turns slurping up the semi solid goo with a straw. Ah the dignity that we forfeited.

After that, we went to Brendan’s house early, having nothing to do at Mela’s (they watched Whip It for a while but I complained). We met the kitty ‘Doc’, and we played with the kitten for an hour or two until more people arrived. Brendan got this weird blowup guitar as a present, and the jokes of him blowing up something large and pink were numerous.

Now, this party was the one where I was meant to drink, but something went odd with my tolerance, and I ended up on that platform of one-shot-too-many, and my darling was put to the test by having to take care of me while I threw up for about an hour. But, hey, before that the party was great! Apparently I danced, we ate pizza and chips, played with the kitten some more when someone brought him back downstairs. Arthur and Valia (newly coupled and all that) were being super cute and made fairy bread. We sang along to karaoke.

In the end, Mela’s older brother drove us home. Having work the next day, I did my best to hydrate and sleep, and then went to visit Mela after she finished her shift the next day before Jen (from that other time with the surprise visiting at work and all that) who was going to have lunch with Mela drove me to work.

I always like Brendan’s parties. I will aim to like all of it without throwing up of course. I missed out on Truth or Dare too!

The Savior Of The Broken

[Welcome To The Black Parade – My Chemical Romance]

This post was written by Alex but posted by her lovely “master”, Jenny.

Yesterday was Jenny’s 18th birthday, and she had a BBQ at Jells Park. At least, she thought that was all there was.

I got up really early and went with my parents to Springvale so they would be able to drop me off at Glen on time. Had some weird but enlightening conversation with my mom regarding problems in her side of the family.

Got to the Glen at past 9:30 (after Jenny had called me almost 3 times demanding to know where I was) and met up with her at Safeway. We went around shopping, and then drove up to Jells.

It was warm but windy, and still getting better from feeling slightly coughy, I wasd worried. But then people started arriving, and I forgot about it. We started blowing up balloons (“ballons”, as Jenny’s shopping list read) and strung them up like a free-flying kite. It actually looked pretty nice. Met Alex C (I’ll call him AC in this post) and Hele-.

So when more guys came we started cooking. Steph played her awful K-Pop music.

Steph really wanted to go to the playground. She actually whinged about it. So we (Sam, Hele-, Steph, Ven- I think and myself) went to the swings. Then we went back, and by the time we’d gotten back most of the good meat were eaten.

We all sat down and had lunch. Hele- drowned my food in tomato sauce, making my lunch look like road kill. So I tried to kill hers in BBQ sauce. I remarked that my lunch looked like it was bleeding; she retorted that her lunch looked like it was taking a dump.

After lunch, and after taking about 2 hours to buy some drinks and change pants, Lois and AC arrived with a whole box of Cruisers. Thus the drinking started.

Jenny had maybe a total of 3/4 of a bottle before she felt ill. So ill that…well you can imagine. We figured, since she’d downed vodka shots before, maybe it was something in the Cruiser that didn’t agree with her. The best moment in what was a pretty awful moment was Nashi running up to Jenny with a bag and, standing like he was about to haul ass and run, thrusted the bag at her.

Pom was left to carry the (leaking) bad dripping with the stuffs to the bathroom. That was sorta funny too.

Anyway, sat with Jenny while she was trying to feel better, and watched Pom fail at frisbee with the boys.

After Jenny felt good enough to stop staring at a wall, we joined the others playing Blackjack: loser has to do a dare nominated. I sided with Jenny seeing as I forgot mostly how to play Blackjack, and so when we busted to 25, as the birthday girl, Jenny had to do the dare.

I think I won’t re-mention what she had to do. Because not mentioning it makes the dare sound even more…dare I say…Juizy?

Then came cake cutting time! Pom stayed up late and made the most beautiful pink cake. Then after that people had to start leaving. Some for the day…some…for what we made Jenny think was the day.

When everyone had more or less left, I was left with Jenny, waiting for her dad to arrive to “drop me off at the Glen”. Well, what was REALLY happening was that Lois had organized a surprise dinner for Jenny at the Sichuan Hotpot!

Apparently, though, the special girl knew about it (or rather knew there was something going on) because when I’d called her parents the previous night (and explained the situation in my crappy Chinese) she’d sussed already. Still. She looked reasonably pleased.

We ordered way too much food (and Pom spilled AC’s Smirnoff Ice that we snuck in) and so we sat there for over 2 hours eating our way through nearly 15 plates of food. Near the end, we smelled burning in the hotpot, and told the waitress whom we’d already pissed off (and who Kevin tried to boil) that we burned the hotpot.

3 minutes later, Andrew started scooping in the murky water, and lo and behold scooped out a metal ladle that had been sitting in there for maybe 20 good minutes. Burning? Try boiled metal.

I hope we didn’t get food/metal poisoning.

I got home ready to burst and collapse at the same time. But I was happy that (despite minor setbacks and regurgitations) Jenny seemed to have enjoyed herself very much.

Happy Birthday Love!

Alex.

A Girl Like You Is Impossible To Find

[Fall For You – Secondhand Serenade]

This is Day 3 of Sorrento.

Alright, so my feet were in pretty bad shape, so Spanna, Tiff and I decided not to go out anywhere. We had pancakes and fruit salad for breakfast. Spanna cut the melons, and left a very thick layer of crunchy skin on it, so everyone sounded like they were breaking their jaw. After breakfast, we fired up the Korean version of Hana Yori Dango, and we literally sat there for the entire day eating and watching Korean guys, making remarks like “OMG SHE’S SUCH A BITCH!” whenever the lead girl was a bitch towards the curly haired guy (who, by the way, Vania called dibs on), or screaming, “HE’S SO CUTE!” whenever Ji Hoo (or Hanazawa Rui, in the Jap version) smiled. That, actually, was only done by Tiff.

We ate shit loads. We had a huge box of junk food on top of all the other supplies, like bread and meat etc, so Julia and Bel urged us to pig out, as we couldn’t and wouldn’t take all that stuff back. So, for the whole day, we watched HYD and ate and ate and ate. Jen was unfortunately given a pack of chips, from which she ate and ate and ate. She couldn’t stop!

Then, at around lunchtime, we hear a car horn outside. I  look through the blinds and who do I see but SonJ! She got driven up by her mate Dan, and it was a surprise! Forgetting the immense pain on my feet, I ran out to give her a hug. She came in, and then after a while went to the beach with Bel and Julia to join April, Jen and Lily who were there already (alright so not all 12 of us are reclusive losers). We kept watching HYD.

Then later on nearing dinner time, Bel, SonJ and Jen wanted to watch Sweeney Todd. So we put that on, and seeing as I’ve seen it already, I went to the kitchen where Shar- and Suse were just sitting around. They had a candle lit, and Suse was using a charred skewer to write stuff on the paper towel. I had an idea to write “LET ME OUT” in creepy handwriting with the charred skewer, so I was letting the skewer burn in the candle, then using the embers to write the words. Unfortunately I got as far as “LET ME OU” before I forgot to blow out the small flame on the skewer, and so when it was held to the paper towel the entire thing caught on fire! Shar- had some lemon-lime bitters and I swear she was going to through the slightly alcoholic drink onto the fire, so I quickly grabbed the towel, ran to the sink and slammed the tap on.

For the next ten minutes we continued burning small bits of paper towel in the sink. Come on! It was bloody fun. It also smelled quite bad. And we left a small char mark in the sink which we maintain is “sauce stain”.

Then Bel started preparing dinner, making pizzas! I went into the lounge room to watch Get Smart (because I haven’t seen it 3 times already). Then around the end of it I went into the kitchen were a small drinking party had started. Watched Tiff try to do a tequila shot. She actually spat some of it back out, but that was because she dumb enough to hold it on her mouth and not swallow.

Ah I just got distracted by Spanna’s upload of photos.

Anyway that night we played “I Never”, but with actual alcohol this time. Sure I targeted April. She held her booze fine. I got a bit tipsy (found it hard to walk like a normal person). We started watching The Grudge but that sucked, so instead we changed to watch One Missed Call Final but without English subtitles. We made up dialogue, which probably had nothing to do or everything to do with the movie. Went to sleep at around 1 in April’s bunk. Halfway through the night, she flipped over, squished my cheeks, patted my face, then I realized she was still asleep. I don’t know what she was doing. She snored. It was funny.

I suppose I’ll write Day 4 in here as well seeing as it was mostly just packing. Jen got bitten by a mozzie on one eyelid. Like. One eyelid. It was hugely swollen. She got bitten everywhere else too. Packed, went to the bus stop, and took the bus trip back. It wasn’t as long, and I went on MSN and etc on my phone, so it passed the time. Trained back to Richmond from Frankston, and then went home. The moment I sat down in front of the computer, I swear any motor mechanism in my body just stopped.

Well, that was Sorrento! Partied, rested, burned, walked, laughed, sang, screamed, and ate. God did we eat.

Alex.

MLIA, I’m Hanging Onto You!

So today was another “study session” with Jen at State library. I’ve given up on saying it’s a real study session. Who’re we kidding?

Met up at 9:30 UCMC (by the way, that term never has and never will catch on, will it) and went upstairs to Gloria Jeans, where we both got one of those Iced Tim Tam drink things. Discussed losing weight and fatness for a while, and then we went to State at around 10, past 10 ish.

Went in (it was very cool. Way to pay attention to global warming, guys) and started trying to study for Legal Studies. Two minutes in, we fell into a coma. So we played some games on our iPods (speaking of which mine still isn’t fixed, I still can’t link it to my computer. Can anyone help?) and repeatedly said “Okay we HAVE to study we HAVE to study” and then we didn’t.

At around 12 Jen felt hungry so we went out to a Vietnamese place on Swanston Street. I had Pho (Not Pris. She comes later) and Jen had some broken rice thing. It was hot so I decided to treat myself to a VB. When I ordered it, the guy looked at me and said, “are you old enough to drink?”

“Yes.”

“Okay.” And then went away with our order. That was some epic ID checking right there. If only nightclubs did the same, right?

“Are you old enough to grind in an over-age venue?”

“Yes.”

“Okay.”

“Are you old enough to drive?”

“Yes.”

“Okay.”

I decided to be cool and ate some of the chilli that came with the Pho, and bit down on the seeds. It was…interesting.

Went back to State afterwards, and it was really really really hot. Went to the Games Room and played Wii for a while, where Jen owned me in Wii Tennis and Bowling (shh). Then Pris called me, and her and Carmaine came along, with Dom following (well Dom…would have been there regardless…did you know he dreamt about State Library? Duuuuude). Carmaine, Jen and I played Little Big Planet (Jen and I took one control, where Jen was direction and I was jumping etc) and Pris and Dom played Wii. Then they got bored and joined us at Little Big Planet.

I helped figure out how to hold onto things, and spent quite a lot of the time hanging onto Carmaine’s character while she dragged me around. Then we came across a trap where it’s a ghost thing that floats up and down, and if the ghost thing covers your character you die. She got annoyed at me hanging onto her (well hell it was fun.) and aimed it so that the ghost covered our character but not hers. We died, she didn’t. She laughed evilly.

And then I’ll skip how good Dom is at the game.

And then they left to study, and Jen and I actually studied. We went through a practice exam orally (dude, don’t) except I think it was an easy exam because we did it really easily. Studied a bit more, and then played on iPod again.

Jen needed to charge her iPod, so I went to get my recharge cord out of the locker. Except 4 hours was up by then, so I had to pay an extra dollar for another four hours, but only needed 1 hour. Then, this happened (and I submitted it to MLIA, so hopefully you’ll see it):

Today, I was annoyed at having to pay a dollar for another four hours on a locker when I only need it for an hour more. I put in my two dollar coin, and heard my change fall into the slot. Reaching in, I came back with 2 one-dollar coins; the previous user had forgotten to take their change, thus giving me a free hour on my locker. I felt like State Library was apologizing for making me pay. MLIA.

It was awesome.

Left at around 4 and went to JB. They didn’t have the headphones I wanted. Said bye to Jen and went to Big W. They didn’t have the headphones I wanted. Went back to Melbourne Central and bought a Monster energy drink with the 2 dollars I then had because of above, drank it on the train home (shouldn’t have done it) and then at Holmesglen these bunch of fobby TAFE students came in loudly talking in Chinese about how they fail in English (agreed).

Tomorrow, I have my Legal exam. And then after that only Chinese which I frankly don’t even worry about anymore. Maybe I’ll write 1 or 2 more practice essays and I’m done. I’m so glad the exam period was as scary as I feared – but it was still pretty shitty.

Don-don-don-don’t hold back

Today was Vania’s 18th birthday, and we had her birthday party at April’s place.

Got there before anyone else did, win. Vania came later on, and got stuff set up. Brought a respektable amount of alcohol so that April can make sex on the beach.

I still snigger when I say that.

Got Singstar set up, and started warming up with a few songs. Bo came, then Bel and Julia, then Li-. We really got into the swing of things and then we played Pass The Mic and that was stupid hard.

April and I did battle on Grace Kelly by Mika. We actually did pretty well. It’s a good song.

Aristarchus, April’s cat, rubbed himself on everyone and everything that came along.

Mimay and Fah- came along much later, and then Lily left. We had ice cream cake, and then just before Vania cut the cake, we (or me) suggested that Vania do a shot before she cuts the cake. April got her a Vodka and Schnapps shot, and Soph yelled “Oh my god, give her a chaser, she’ll die.”

Then April made sex on the beach.

Snigger.

Sang a bit more, Julia and I owned on “Don’t Hold Back” by the Potbelleez (or however you spell their band name) and then started watching 10 Things I Hate About You.

Everyone pretty much left at that point, and then when Vania left, Julia, Bel and I decided to bid our farewells as well.

It was fun, because everytime someone left we sang happy birthday.

Julia sneezed a lot. Like. A lot. I think Bel counted to 12 (?) in a row.

Played Tap Tap Revenge on the train home. Need to download more songs.

“But I want to see April DRUNK…!”

You know, I freaking hinted at a photography thing a while back, and unless I wasn’t screening my comments thoroughly (which doesn’t happen) no one bit. So I might as well talk about it here, now.

Granted, I cut my finger earlier today. Slow going.

I chose that line, which Vania said today, because it ties up the 2 things I want to talk about.

First, Sorrento.

Second, photoshoot and party!

It was a bit hectic today, but we finally got Sorrento finalized (actually there is one more step left before we can like solidly and contently be finalized). Now all we have is to pay the bonds, work out costs, transport, and be really really excited! Which I already am! Dec 1st to 4th,  three nights, 4 days, and 12 (hopefully) girls who have finished their high school exams. Yes, for those who are avid followers of my life (and laughs) and those around me, I will be away on the birthday of my beloved Carmaine, so I won’t be able to post a Happy Birthday post personally (I can do a timed post, which is still kinda cool).

(I just realized, upon reading back, that my wording has implied that hopefully the 12 people will be girls, but I’m not sure yet. What I meant was, hopefully there will be 12.)

Now, the way that this ties up with my title…April won’t be very happy that I write this, but, well, honey, you’ll be fine.

April had so bravely said that if we’re over-numbered, she’d be happy to be cut out. Vania immediately switched on her puppy face and shook her head no. “April! You have to come!” cried she.

“No, but I’m just saying if there are too many people…”

“BUT I WANT TO SEE APRIL DRUNK!”

And how does that tie in to the second part?

The 2nd BRuCE photoshoot is happening at a studio! Za-‘s dad is going away, and seeing as he’s a professional photographer, Za-‘s dad came equipped with a professional studio. Dani, of course, remains our beloved photographer.

(Now, I don’t know if I should blog about this 2nd part but I guess if this post suddenly disappears you’ll know why.)

After the photoshoot, it is planned that Za- throws a party. April is attending.

So when Vania did her puppy thing, and shouted her line, April said, “That’s okay, if I don’t come to Sorrento, just come to Za-‘s party and you’ll see.”

Well, I am intensely looking forward to these two occasions. So I will update on the status of Sorrento as it happens, and of the photoshoot assuming I can remember. Ha. No, jokes.

Alex.

On This Momentous Day

…nothing happened. I just thought I should tap in something on the first of a month. Especially such an important month as December.

December to me means:

Carmaine’s birthday, Christmas, New Year’s Eve (which WILL get better when I get older, I hope) and not January, so no need to hurry to do school-set holiday work yet.

Finally, we should all remember that today is International AIDS day. (Where’s Andrew? He always yells out “AIDS!” and then Dani always yells out, “I HAVE AIDS!” and then on some invisible agreement we’d all point our fingers around like fire hoses and pretend we’re spraying everyone with AIDS…)

Wednesday is Carmaine’s 17th.

Holy shit, I can’t believe she’s 17. I still remember the day she turned 15. Apart from the Friday when Stoner brought in a blue cake because that was the only food dye color she had, on the Sunday I left Chinese school in a rush and went with her and a bunch of people to the city to go to the Southern Cross DFO. We walked along Southbank but it took us so long to get there, for we took pictures every 3 steps, that in the end we didn’t go to DFO at all. Well, I guess back then, we were Yr 9’s and 15 years old, and the time for us to get back home was a lot earlier – plus my parents had a wedding to go to.

I also remember her 16th. BRuCE and Cruzik went in late November to Mecca Bah (I’ve got a video made from that day too. Go check out my YouTube and it’s the one called “At Mecca Bah” I think.) and I remember it was REALLY hot (and I had a shit haircut). On her actual birthday I don’t think we did anything (if we did it wasn’t momentous) and I overslept my alarm at midnight to text her so I actually woke myself up at 3 am and texted her. I won’t make the same mistake twice.

Speaking of which, I might as well recount the others’ birthdays.

I didn’t really know Bianca well when she turned 15, so obviously I don’t have a very clear memory of that, but her 16th was celebrated on the 7th of July (I remember so clearly because the 07/07/07 concert for Make Poverty History was that night) and actually, in my old blog Jalix (with WordPress as well) I blogged about that day. For her 17th she took BRuCE to Bar Bosh at Knox O-Zone and I remember that day was cold and I’d just spent the whole day at Knox watching Get Smart and Kung Fu Panda with YL. I’d just got my hair cut really short so it was cold, and I wore a beanie. When I took off the beanie to show Eunice – Bee and Carmaine were with me when I got my hair cut – her response was “Oh…my…”.

Eunice’s 15th I remember Carmaine and I went early to school to prepare for her pressie, but we didn’t tell her. Eunice texted me asking me if I knew where Carmaine was, I think I replied, “no idea” as I stood next to the wanted one. For Eunice’s 16th it was a school day, and I remember being the first to hug her when she got onto the old-ass train at Syndal. She took us to Tao’s a few days later and that day was stinking hot. It was just after I got a short haircut (are we seeing a pattern here?) and I really hated it because it makes me look like a stunned chicken. On her 17th, we didn’t see her, she was with her church friends, or WCC friends (they’re the same bunch of “Eunice’s-Others” in my head) but Carmaine, Bee and I were at Mocha Jo’s and I called her.

For my 15th, I’d gotten on the train with the then Yr 10’s and they didn’t know it was my birthday until Tiff got on and said happy birthday. April and Dani gave me their present; April gave me my first hardcore music album, System Of A Down’s Mesmerize, and Dani wrote a shitlong message in a card for a 2 year old. My 16th I did a big thing, and invited about 13 people to go watch HP5 on Friday the 13th, and then went to La Porchetta’s. I remember so clearly Nug being late late late! And also how my hand shook when I tried to put the candle in the cake, and then how loudly everyone sang happy birthday and made all the other La P’s patrons stare. The pressies I got on that day is still piled in my bedroom! I never stowed them away. On my 17th, I took Dani to ACMI’s Game On exhibition, BRuCE to Fedele’s (‘cos idiot Shira Nui was closed) and then had a joint party with Bel and SonJ at April’s place, where we played Singstar and Guitar Hero and watched Zoolander and I’m pretty Damn Sure I blogged about that somewhere.

I can’t wait until Bee and I turn 18, sorry Princess, but you’ll have to wait 15 days until you have someone to party with you, unless of course you go with Fel. [insert a really really big smile here] But after mid-years we are DEFINITELY going to celebrate at a bar. I can’t wait until Carmaine turns 18 either, because that marks the moment when all of us are adults and we’ll ALL go drinking and doing adult things. Unfortunately for Eunice her 18th is marred by the looming End Of Year’s. She’ll survive.

I should probably change the title of my blog to “Birthdays” buuuuuut I think birthdays are momentous days, as well.

De Fluffe, Out.
