If You Jump I Will Jump Too

[Skyway Avenue – We The Kings]

This is again posted by Jenny, because my computer isn’t back yet.

I have to smush both Tuesday and Wednesday together because I’ve left it too long and some memories have faded! See, old age is getting to me.

On Tuesday, I went into the city for Nat’s farewell lunch. Pris took the train up with us; she didn’t get her 2nd round offer with RMIT so she’s gonna be stuck in my course.

Met up under the clock, as always, and waited ’til everyone got there. Nat wanted to go up to Lygon St, so we went up to Papa Gino’s and had pizza. The only funny thing I can remember was Raj’s story about how Q.H. once brought her own tupperware to a restaurant and put all the food in at the end to “save money”. Ahh Asians.

After lunch we went to get Gelati, and sat down in a park to eat them. I had to leave early to meet up with Jenny so I got directions to the tram stop. Unfortunately I walked the wrong way and had to go back. It was hot!! Finally got back onto a train. Got off at Mt Waverley and met up with Jenny at the library. Giggled at all the school kids and then went to Glenny and just sat around at the food court. I sneezed so loudly it echoed all around the foodcourt.

I walked home, in the heat. By the time I reached my front door I was literally dripping with sweat. Disgusting huh?

That night was the return of NCIS. Finally got Jenny interested in it.

On Wednesday it was Cathy’s farewell (it’s a bit sad that so many people are going). We had a picnic at Alexander’s Gardens. Met a lot of new people, friends of Cathy’s (Ming aka Dimitri, Pe-, Shie- Jackie, Theresa, Amy etc), and also caught up with the Jalex twins. There was so much food! But as the good Asians we were we ate and ate and ate. Then the cameras got whipped out and Jack took charge as the weird creepy photographer. Some pretty disturbing pics were taken, but thank God some good memories were captured too.

After Angie left for her lecture, we went to Photoplus and I got forced to take pictures! It took them about half an hour for them to just decorate it. Before Photoplus, I just remembered, they tried to walk into Club X. I waited outside, because you know, I don’t want to go in there. After that we went to Chaplin on Little Bourke, a Korean karaoke joint. It looked great! Got stuck into the singing (and some dirty dancing on their behalf. I felt that who needs Club X? Ok yeah that’s creepy.

Sam picked “When You’re Gone” by Avril Lavigne which nearly brought Cathy to tears. Oh Cathy I will miss you so much!!

Went home after Chaplin. I have yet to find a way to go to the airport on Tuesday when Cathy takes off. Cue tears!

Well, that’s it for now. Thanks Jenny for posting!

Alex.

It’s Beautiful, Man!

I went out today with Bee to watch YesMan and then had lunch with Carmaine and Eunice.

Haha, if only all my blogs were that short.

Regardless of how fucking hot it was yesterday (because I didn’t go out at all – score) I still maintain that today was close to being unbearable. Anything above 26 is pretty bad for me. I said to Bee, “I hope this winter is a cold one because we get to wear our own clothes so we don’t have to be stuffed in school uniform.” and she argued that our uniform isn’t that bad. But still. Those blazers stink when wet.

I took my walk to the bus stop and as I was sitting there waiting, April called. So I chatted a bit, and got on the bus, and Bee got on at her stop down the road, and at the end of the bus ride I nearly toppled over the seat in front of me because it – the bus – braked suddenly and I was in one of the back seats.

Bee laughed. Jerk (not really. I deserved it).

We went to the Glen and I got my recharge (yeah, there’s a gripe behind that that more or less goes along the lines of “stupid Optus”) and then went back to the cinemas and bought out tickets. Who do we see being the solitary ticket girl? Pam. Yep, I had actually thought this morning that it would be rather funny if we got Pam for our ticket chick and sure enough, Pam was our ticket chick. So of course I asked to be put down to children tickets. Gotta love Pam. Chatted a bit (but not too much) and then I got my Chop Top and we went up to see YesMan.

We got there rather early, and were the first ones in the cinema so we just talked loudly to each other until one of the guys who I suppose makes sure the cinema is in good shape came in, and according to Bee he was “really cute” and he chatted with us for a bit with his “nice voice” and then after that a few more people came in so we couldn’t talk loudly anymore.

Anyway, so my two cents on YesMan.

It wasn’t the best movie that Jim Carrey has done, then again Jack Black and Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler have all gone a bit kooky (granted I’ve yet to see Tropic Thunder so don’t hold me on my words there). But I had some pretty good laughs and came out of it feeling like I could…say yes to ANYTHING! (Except, as Bee found out soon enough, wear a dress. Ha.) But there was a rather sweet scene in a barn in the rain when the lead girl Alisha suddenly hugs Carl (Carrey) and I’m sorry, I nearly said “aww” there. Or maybe I did. The old lady “repaying Carl for his kindness”, that part, that was rather disturbing. Because he actually liked it.

After the movie, we were a little late to the pre-arranged meet time for lunch at The Arena in the Glen near David Jones (nearly 9 years living in this area and I’ve never been there) and so Carmaine and Eunice were there already when we got there. I said to Bee later on, “You either miss someone like crazy from the get-go, or you don’t realize how much you’ve missed them until you see them again.” And somehow both were the case today. Because I’d been on the phone with Bee a lot I hadn’t been out of contact per se with her as much, but I hadn’t talked to Carmaine and Eunice much at all and it was incredibly good to be BRuCE again, just being retards (or just me. Look I was influenced by Carrey, alright? Got a big loud and gesture-y) and laughing and catching up.

I ordered a really big burger, unfortunately it wasn’t good enough to warrant a “this burger is so good…”  but the fries were really good, and everyone kept on nipping one or two there.

We went to Country Road, then David Jones (you may remember The Arena was NEXT TO David Jones and Country Road IS NOT) and then went out to Real Gelati near the library. I saw Carmen working there! (I mentioned Carmen a couple months back from Chinese school) And so we chatted for a bit, and then we…went back to David Jones for Carmaine to be picked up by her mom – who was really nice and wished me a Happy Chinese New Year. Eunice and I had a couple of “Your Face” moments before that, and a lot of high-fives (or burger-five, or parody-five) were passed around. I even made Bee high-five me a couple of times.

Eunice went down the escalator (sorry, chronological disorder. This was all before saying bye to Carmaine at David Jones) and so Carmaine and I shouted down from the first floor “BYE EUNICE!” And yeah it was fun to embarrass her like that. You should try it. You, in general.

Bee and I took the bus home to her place, and we watched Scrubs. Oh, Eunice, we watched the episode with the line “I love this moment so much I want to have sex with it.”

Mom picked me up – and with the fact that she has a phone now, I called her on her MOBILE to confirm I was at Bee’s place – and came home and my face is hurting a bit so I’m guessing I got a bit burnt. Yes. I burn easily. Laugh it up, mortals, laugh it up. Because…THIS…IS WHAT A MONSTER LOOKS LIKE…[throws glitter in face].

I don’t think I’ve ever employed my [] in blogging before. Have I?

In one scene in YesMan, Carl stopped a guy from jumping because he played a song on the guitar, an instrument he learned in a whim. I think if I can stop one person from jumping by playing them a song, it’s worth it.

I have no idea how I hit 1000 words already but I should stop.

Keep Cool (apparently),

D.F.

In the arms of an angel

Alright, I actually HAVE MATERIAL! I went out today. I hadn’t gone out in a bit.

Today Bianca and I went to the city. We invited Eunice. She didn’t come, because she’d wanted to relax at home. Carmaine had to study for her Geography (very hardworking) and Shaz came, but later.

So, why not. Let’s recount my WHOLE day. Seeing as Eunice mentioned that reading my blog keeps her in the loop. And, it was an interesting day so it’s not too bad a read. I’ll spruce it up.

The planned train was the 8:51 but I arrived an hour early to a) run errands and b) let Mom get to work on time. It was chilly (“crisp, refreshing”) so I ran my errands, and then decided to get an apple pie from McDonalds. The McDonalds in The Glen didn’t open for breakfast (as Shaz would say – I have her voice in my head right now – “Gaaaay”) so I walked out to the McDonalds on High Street. For those who know that area, you’d think, “all that for an apple pie?” Yes, and in the end I got a Hash Brown. I walked past Baker’s Delight on my way back to the station, and decided to get Bianca an Apple Scroll. I didn’t see her eat it all day so I don’t know, is it good?

We took the train to the city. Bee called Eunice, and I talked to her. I told her off, because she was meant to text me her decision. She replied, “Oh I think I forgot to text.” I growled “Well of course you forgot to text.”

We listened to a Gotcha Call on the train, laughing like idiots – at least I was – and when we arrived at the city we went straight to school. Har. Har. Bee borrowed and returned some books, and I did some blackmarket business for my textbooks, and we headed back into the CBD. We went to Oxfam, which was in the Walk Arcade. It took us ages to find it because we walked along the wrong side of Lt Collins (I even ended up asking those Melbourne Embassadors in red for directions. Bee looked very annoyed because, of course, the guy treated us like tourists.) At Oxfam, there was a small drum where, when you shake it, these little attachments will bang the drum. I love those. So I said to Bee, as she was paying, “Hey, Bee, look at these little drums. When you shake them, they make a noise. Oh and look there’s a gong. Do you like gongs?” After I left Oxfam, it occured to me that perhaps I looked like Bee’s retard friend. I sure as hell sounded like one. It didn’t help with the fact that I’d lost sight of Bee for a second in the shop and started saying aloud, “Where’s my friend? Where’s my friend?”

After leaving Oxfam we went in search for Journal Cafe and City Library. We didn’t find it. We asked for directions but we didn’t find it. We were given directions to the State Library MANY times.

Giving up our fruitless search – it was getting hot, anyway – we walked back to Flinders Station (passed a hardcore goth guy who WASN’T melting in the sun) to meet Shaz. I was worried about BIanca because she has a dodgy ankle and shouldn’t be walking too much. I kept on fussing over her, which would be annoying I know but, it’s me. Shaz knew where City Library was, and we found Journal right next to it. We didn’t manage to find Journal before because, my luck, we’d faced the other way when we got onto Flinders Lane so we just missed it. Shaz stayed for a drink at Journal, then left and Bee and I had lunch – toasted sandwiches hurt when the crust is super hard. And it was super hard, dammit. We sat there for maybe half an hour, 45 mins, just talking. We found a campaign for Lord Mayor, Catherine Ng. Well, needless to say we all thought it said “another name” (censoring) and so we took a campaign and tried to cross out Catherine and put in that other name. We left the campaign at Journal, unfortunately.

After paying, I decided it would be nice to go to Southbank and sit around. We took the tram down to the Art Centre where a lot of primary school kids were having an excursion (therefore Bee felt obliged to aww and ooh over them) and walked down to Southbank. We got gelati – Bee reminded me to grab extra serviettes because the last time she saw me eat an ice cream I was drinking and wearing it – and ate it while having a chat. A blonde lady – chick? I dunno she’s still young enough for me to call her a chick but old enough that it might be an insult – sat on the same bench as us and I’m pretty sure if she ever sees us again she’d be cracking a smile. We talked about rather dumb things. For example, there were these Private School girls going around the city in uniformed gaggles, as some sort of City Experience. I suggested loudly that we follow one of the groups and see if they notice. Bee said no.

After finishing the ice cream we crossed the bridge (hahahahahaha I won’t post what you told me, Bee, but I still laugh when I think about it) and found a bench on the station side of the river.

And that was the best part of my day. We sat there for 2 hours, chatting idly, rating the joggers as they went past (we saw more than a necessary share of manboobs, and there were 2 ladies wearing skirts – pencil? – with a slit that I’m guessing was meant to go up the side but since they were “jogging” the skirt shifted and the slit went up the back to…you guessed it…and why the HELL do you wear skirts when you jog?) and we also saw a dog with sunnies on. We played I-Spy (Bee spied something starting with “c”, as in “cracks in the ground”. W. T. F.) and then around the end we started playing Truth or Truth. And it was strange, new, but in a way relieving to be playing Truth or Truth with someone who I’m not even worried what question they’d ask. Well in the end she didn’t ask me any really big ones. Carmaine texted and I called her, and I asked, “Do you want to speak to Bee?” and at the same time both Bee and Carmaine said, “No that’s okay”.

Bee left at 3 to meet her mom, and I found Sharoan (it was stinking hot and I HATED IT). Sharoan went back to school to collect a few books, and we took the packed and delayed 3:55 home together. A stoner guy got on at Holmesglen and started talking to another guy, who, after the stoner had left, turned out not to have known the stoner at all.

And, see, 1000-odd words, and I didn’t even blog about anything deep. Just a recount of my day. It was a good day. It was good to be out, despite the weather.

I can’t wait ’til Thursday. And now Friday too.

De Fluffe, Out.
