Before The Doors Close

[Keep Holding On – Glee cover of Avril Lavigne]

So, I don’t know if it happens to everyone, but once I stored some Drumstick ice-cream in my freezer for a while and the biscuit bits turned soft and soggy.

Today my parents came back from Woolworths and Mom told me that we’d gotten a lot of Drumsticks on sale, and told me to eat them all soon or the biscuits will turn soggy and the best part (at least for me) will be ruined.

I don’t even know if the freezer really does turn the biscuits soggy after a while, or if it was just a defective box last time, but basically I have a crap load of Drumstick ice cream to myself for the next few days, and my metabolism is still holding out.

I love being an only child sometimes.

I’ll Find Deep Inside Me I Can Be The One

[Your Guardian Angel – The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus]

I don’t know if 2 years in a row makes it a yearly thing, but yesterday was Whitty and Yeleng’s birthday party – again.

It wasn’t as hot as last year – in fact it was much colder, windier and wetter.

Managed to persuade Lily into making a more than 1 hour journey to East side, and then another 20 minute bus ride to Rowville. We did some grocery shopping for the games we were meant to play – meant to because, in the end, we played 2 of them. So I guess Whitty just gets a bunch of random food like Aeros and Nandos sauce.

Anyway, the party was predominantly Whitty’s Swinburne friends, with the next majority being Monash people. Then, we had 3 Melbourne people, and then we had Lily. (Hahaha…) So at the start there were some group division but as the night went on, people started warming up to each other, and the vodka.

I was in Whitty’s room with Lily trying to play some guitar, and in conversation I’d mentioned that Whitty has a cat as well as Penny the dog – Penny was a bit TOO friendly with Lily when we first arrived. I mean I’ve heard of bitches being forward but this was ridiculous – and we wondered where the cat was. Halfway through trying to play a Bruno Mars song, a black creature suddenly leaped out of Whitty’s closet and streaked out of the bedroom, drawing screams from Lily. At the same time, Whitty’s Swinburne friends decided to arrive, and I was pretty sure their first impression of Lily was a screaming ball of panic, and their first impression of me was a less than sympathetic friend laughing her spleen to waste.

Swin, Yeleng and I were managing the games, and the first one we played was the one we’d played the previous year, which was to eat ice-cream off of kitchen utensils, most of which were definitely not spoon-like. After watching people try to lick ice cream off egg-beaters, and getting brain freeze, the Monash team lost, and as punishment Lois and Andrew had to lick Nutella of different sides of a cling-wrap…at the same time. This punishment made Lois not want to play any more games at the risk of having to, God forbid, be close to her boyfriend again, but the videos and pictures were well worth it.

The second game included one person being blindfolded and feeding the other person jelly with straws like chopsticks. I don’t know why but the jelly didn’t set properly, so it became a matter of who could shovel the lime flavored goo into the other person’s mouth faster.

At the end of the night, the party more or less dissolved into people just crashing on all the couches watching people play video games or watching TV. The Swinburne kids enthusiastically took pictures any time they could, and I wasn’t so tired as to not try to photobomb one or two of them.

At around past 11, most of the people had started leaving, so Aymee, being the cooler P-plater that she is, drove me home. I was pretty damn jealous not only of the fact that she has her Ps, but because she’d also gotten her own brand new car. My fear of a friend driving me to death has been quietened, too.

And now, I have to go watch some DVDs that dad brought home, and then get ready to go out tonight to see my Melb Uni crew.

A Footnote In Someone Else’s Happiness

[Does Your Husband Know – Fall Out Boy]

Happy Chinese New Year, and happy Valentines for 2010!

This is YEEEEEEEEEEAR…of the TIIIIGER! (Sing that to Eye Of The Tiger).

I didn’t write about Thursday, so this will be fast, since it’s quite late.

On Thursday I went to Monash Uni to play badminton with Jenny, Lois and He-. It was a very hot day, and so I sweated a LOT. But it was a good feeling to finally do something active again – even though I knew at the time, and surely enough it did happen, my body would pay for it afterwards.

After badminton (in which He- soundly beat me) we went to Maccas (yes the irony isn’t lost on me) for lunch. Just managed to catch the 12 – 2 lunch specials, so got a six-dollar Quarter Pounder meal.

Said bye to Lois and He- after lunch, and went with Jenny to Cold Rock. It started raining by then (just started. Little did we know how bad it would get) so we went into the Glen and hid out in the food court. I left with Mom came to pick me up, and when we were about 2 minutes away from the front door it really broke loose. The 10 second dash from car to door actually soaked me.

And my area had it easy. South Melbourne and Flinders, as reported on the news, were at times knee deep in water.

Jenny told me afterwards that after I left the power went out at the Glen and she was left stranded there in the dark.

I laughed.

Friday was uneventful; took Mom to the doctors for her routine checkup, and bought pizza home because Dad wasn’t going to be home for dinner and obviously she doesn’t trust my cooking.

Today I woke up after having slept 10 hours without realizing it again – seriously, I thought I’d broken the habit! – and went out to finally buy the coleslaw I’ve been craving the entire day prior. I ate coleslaw while watching the Vancouver opening ceremony, but went downstairs to watch Conan movies halfway through.

Got my computer back – as you can see – and now I’m running on Windows 7. The interface is still something I should get used to.

That’s a quick catch up for now. Originally was going to go to St Kilda fest and/or movies with Jenny tomorrow/today (technically today, by now) but she has to stay home to take care of her brother. So postponage!

If You Jump I Will Jump Too

[Skyway Avenue – We The Kings]

This is again posted by Jenny, because my computer isn’t back yet.

I have to smush both Tuesday and Wednesday together because I’ve left it too long and some memories have faded! See, old age is getting to me.

On Tuesday, I went into the city for Nat’s farewell lunch. Pris took the train up with us; she didn’t get her 2nd round offer with RMIT so she’s gonna be stuck in my course.

Met up under the clock, as always, and waited ’til everyone got there. Nat wanted to go up to Lygon St, so we went up to Papa Gino’s and had pizza. The only funny thing I can remember was Raj’s story about how Q.H. once brought her own tupperware to a restaurant and put all the food in at the end to “save money”. Ahh Asians.

After lunch we went to get Gelati, and sat down in a park to eat them. I had to leave early to meet up with Jenny so I got directions to the tram stop. Unfortunately I walked the wrong way and had to go back. It was hot!! Finally got back onto a train. Got off at Mt Waverley and met up with Jenny at the library. Giggled at all the school kids and then went to Glenny and just sat around at the food court. I sneezed so loudly it echoed all around the foodcourt.

I walked home, in the heat. By the time I reached my front door I was literally dripping with sweat. Disgusting huh?

That night was the return of NCIS. Finally got Jenny interested in it.

On Wednesday it was Cathy’s farewell (it’s a bit sad that so many people are going). We had a picnic at Alexander’s Gardens. Met a lot of new people, friends of Cathy’s (Ming aka Dimitri, Pe-, Shie- Jackie, Theresa, Amy etc), and also caught up with the Jalex twins. There was so much food! But as the good Asians we were we ate and ate and ate. Then the cameras got whipped out and Jack took charge as the weird creepy photographer. Some pretty disturbing pics were taken, but thank God some good memories were captured too.

After Angie left for her lecture, we went to Photoplus and I got forced to take pictures! It took them about half an hour for them to just decorate it. Before Photoplus, I just remembered, they tried to walk into Club X. I waited outside, because you know, I don’t want to go in there. After that we went to Chaplin on Little Bourke, a Korean karaoke joint. It looked great! Got stuck into the singing (and some dirty dancing on their behalf. I felt that who needs Club X? Ok yeah that’s creepy.

Sam picked “When You’re Gone” by Avril Lavigne which nearly brought Cathy to tears. Oh Cathy I will miss you so much!!

Went home after Chaplin. I have yet to find a way to go to the airport on Tuesday when Cathy takes off. Cue tears!

Well, that’s it for now. Thanks Jenny for posting!

Ice Cream, Because I Ate So Much

I don’t have the time right now to write a huge long ass blog about last night (which was totally awesome) because I want to try out the new way of beating Megavideo that I learned on Facebook. So this will be very short and funny. Hopefully funny.

Last night after Chinese finished (By the WAY! Count: DONE! DONE AND DONE AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH) I went straight back to Glenny to meet up with YL to go to Whitty’s house.

Now, I have to warn you, I’m going to have to drop a lot of new names this time because I was catching up with a bunch of people, some of whom I haven’t seen in over four years.

I found YL with El, Jez and Elmo. We were going to take the 754 but Reb was late. Had to wait for her, then we took the next bus to Whitty’s house which is in Rowville. Honestly. Where the bloody hell is Rowville? It feels like Woop Woop.

On the bus I just happened to see Nina who I went to primary school with. We had a long chat about how things were etc. Exchanged numbers. Very good.

Elmo kept on falling down whenever the bus took a turn, so when Jez warned us “left turn coming up” YL and I grabbed Elmo by the shoulders and tried to hold her in place.

FINALLY got to Rowville (I swear China was closer) and it was a hot walk to Whitty’s place. Got there and everyone else was there already, playing Mahjong.

(And, in the blogging style of Katherine)

Hi hi how are you nice to see you again oh mahjong sucks where’s the drinks?

Drink drink.

Laugh.

Play with dog.

Make a few jokes about Swin.

Make many jokes about YL.

Then they decided to play Twister so Mani, Huey and I hid into Whitty’s room and played with his electric guitar. Then Cat joined us. She sat behind the door so when Whitty ran into the room, throwing the door open, she got hidden behind the door.

“WHERE’S CAT?!” He asked.

I started laughing hysterically, because right behind him looking absolutely terrified was the girl he was looking for.

“I have no idea,” Huey managed to say.

Whitty ran out of his room, and Cat’s phone rang. She pretended she was outside. We could hear Whitty in the next room saying, “WHERE ARE YOU?”

We re-joined the rest of them in time to watch a massive orgy happen on the Twister mat, where YL is flashing everyone. Sat down on the couch and started throwing stuff at the players to make it more interesting. Started a pillow fight by accident.

Then we had this weird ass game where you get a cup of milk/water and pearls, and you have to (and man the double meaning is tenfold here) suck up all the pearls, keep them in your mouth and don’t swallow, and then in the end spit them out. The person who spat out the most (as in kept the most in their mouth, as in sucked up the most) won. I got 9. YL got 9. Law got 13. Cat got 1. Everyone else swallowed. Baha.

Then I accidentally started a straw fight. I blew air through the straw at Mani. She blew back at me. I blew it towards Elmo. Then she took it to the next level and started blowing everyone.

Oh wait that…well that probably sounded wrong because Law then remarked “STOP BLOWING EVERYONE!”

Cat was made to eat an entire cup of pearls mixed with ketchup. She didn’t.

Then we had ice cream cake. I got 2 slices. It was good.

Then we started watching District 9. Except by watch I meant YL and I sat there and every time something came on screen we would remark that the other is it. So for example when a guy with a bad haircut came on screen I yelled, “YOU’RE HIS HAIRCUT” or when a guy with a big nose came on, YL yelled, “You’re his NOSE!” We had no idea what the movie is about.

Then we played this other ice-cream game. By this point everyone wanted to die, we had that much ice cream. The game (another one by Swin and Ayms) included four whole scoops of ice cream, and weird ass utensils to eat them with. When I say weird ass utensils, I mean a large spork, a spatula, a roast fork, a freaking potato masher, and an egg whisk.

I was screaming at Cat and YL who were on my team to “JUST SHOVE IT IN YOUR MOUTH IT’S NOT THAT HARD!” Apparently someone filmed it and it would probably float onto Facebook some time soon.

My team won.

So then we sat around watching Huey, Mani, Whitty and YL play this weird video game called Small Fighters or Tiny Fighters or something like that. Elmo and I got bored so we joined Cat on the other couch. Cat then decided to try to torture me. Ok I swear I heard her say “Can I talk to you?” I said sure. She actually said, “Can I torture you?”

Whitty discovered that I’m ticklish, and him and Elmo started tickling me. Unfortunately I thrash when tickled, and Cat had to hold my legs down while I nearly kicked her in the face.

Had a group photo outside on the veranda. The dog was in it.

Then we went back to the living room after having locked everyone outside for a while. Then someone decided (and seriously I don’t know why we said yes) it would be great fun to play hide and seek in the dark. The lights got turned off and instead of playing hide and seek we just walked around with my mobile phone lights scaring people. Then Elmo and I sat on a sofa listening to the distance voices of Cat screaming “STOP TOUCHING ME! HELP ME!” It was relaxing.

Got dropped off home by Mani’s parents at around 10:30. Got home, started changing when I noticed my right earring was gone. I figured it must have slipped out when YL decided to play stacks on on Elmo and myself without telling us.

And that was that.

Damn it still ended up being over 1000 words.

Alex.

Wish you would step back from that ledge, my friend

No, my entry isn’t about someone jumping. I’ve just had that song stuck in my head all day.

So, I know it’s late but I’m posting because I can’t sleep. Today was 42 degrees (celcius. That’s way over 100 in farenheit). Right now I don’t think we’re under 30. We have aircon but it’s not the same. Anyway. The point is I went out today.

For those who know me, you know I hate and do not do well in heat. I was okay for the first half hour maybe but after a while I started feeling crummy and dizzy.

Okay so let me explain in detail. Which I do anyway.

At around 5:20 mom came home and dropped me off at the train station. Was hot. Bee came, and Carmaine was late by about 2 minutes, as in, a train left 2 minutes before she arrived. Was hot. Randomy guy  missing a leg sat down next to us and started talking to us. We all gave fake names but I’d like to think I did it smoother than the other two (haha but I like the names you picked). Bee told the guy to go away in a nice way. Guy went away. Poor guy. Random asked Bee if she was okay. I laughed a little. Well hell, I did try to get his attention but Bee and Carmaine were dressed rather…sexily? So he didn’t pay attention to lil ol’ me.

Waited until 6:20 for the next train. Was hot. Waited in Grand Tofu, and then as we came out saw Ann from Jan&Ann. Talked to her for a bit. Funny chick. Started school today.

Got on train, thank GOD for aircon. Got to city a bit late and took the tram down to what we thought was Lonsdale. Passed D.P. and a mass of Asians (well…THE mass of Asians) and realized that what we thought was Lonsdale was actually La Trobe. Walked back down to Lonsdale and then up Lonsdale to Stalactite. Was hot. Went upstairs, arriving “fashionably late”. Sat, ordered food and drink. There were a bunch of people there that…well I didn’t know and I still don’t know. And Andrew got a haircut and we made fun of it from across the table. Sorry Andrew.

During dinner a moth came in and Sab- is scared of all things that fly. She cried actually, because she was so scared of it. Ate dinner, and left the restaurant. Oh, halfway through eating CJ showed up! Was rather awesome to meet her finally.

Walked around back onto Swanston, and Carmaine took a tie off Dom. It was white, so against her dark tanned skin and her black dress it was fluro. That was funny in pictures. Took a tram down Swanston to Fed Square, and on the tram we remarked that Dani was actually less emo than Carmaine (Dani wearing a floral dress and Carmaine in black). Carmaine then said, “No it doesn’t work, because I haven’t got red on.” I said, “Yeah you do. Your sunburn.” Andrew laughed. Go Andrew. Carmaine wasn’t too thrilled haha but it was worth it. I thought it was a good joke.

Passed a huge line of emos. Dani said that Bullet For My Valentine was playing so we were all saying, “ohhh” knowingly. Got to Fed Square and lost a bunch of people (not that mattered because they were all people I didn’t know). Got Slurpees and as Carmaine and I were getting our’s, I said, “Say when”. She never said “when” so I kept going until it spilled over. See, Carmaine, you have to say when.

Basically hung out outside of the SevenEleven. Took pictures. Then Carmaine dropped her camera and it fucked up. We were all really sad and shocked. That camera has really seen us through some tough times. I love that camera, man. Year 9, Year 10, Ski Camp, Last Day 2007, Year 11, Formal (not that I was there. And EmPow tried to start something about me going to the formal this year tonight), Last Day 2008, and all the memories in between. That camera is awesome. Anyway, Carmained fixed it later. Then D.P. left so everyone started leaving. Bee, EmPow, Carmaine, Dom and I went to Maccas for the soft serve, only to have the idiots tell us that ice cream machine was broken (assholes). Saw CJ again, randomly coming in. Tried to get worker’s discount off’a her but to no avail. Went to Hungry Jack’s next door. I hate Hungry Jack’s soft serves. Taste like baby powder milk. Bye to Dom, and we were on the train home. Exhausted. EmPow tried to read “In The Lake Of The Woods” but to no avail. Bianca tried to help me search for my soul (and I love you Carmaine for saying my best quality is “loyalty”) and Carmaine wouldn’t femez her legs. Ha.

It was hot. Today was hot, undeniably. I felt dizzy on several occasions and am nursing a headache. Big love to Carmaine and Bee for looking after me and asking if I was okay and alive frequently. And, apart from the fact that in heels you scare the crap out of me, I thank you for the hugs, Carmaine.

And now I shall just switch my brain off. I don’t do well in heat, at all. Winters for me.

Keep Cool (oh the fucking irony)

D.F.

P.S. I totally forgot to mention that this was all for D.P.’s 17th birthday which was 4 days ago. Haha sorry my bad. Happy birthday dear. We tried to sing it but only I managed to do it all.

“That one there makes a triangle…”

Today is Dani’s 17th birthday so everyone, go on her blog on my blogroll (Danse Macabre) and shout out a happy birthday to her!

Yesterday, to celebrate, I took her out to the city. Except it was 33 degrees and the pollen count was apparently high. So she had hayfever, as well as the start of a cold, and it was hot.

I took a very early train, and met up with her at Southern Cross. We went to Crown, where she had Maccas for breakfast (boo for your cholestrole) and we walked  to this place which sold icecream (thinking back, all we did was go from one food location to another). It was just past 9 in the morning and we’d started eating ice cream. Then, with nothing to do, and lots of time, we went down to Galactic Circus.

They’d just opened for the day. In the sense that when Dani was eating Maccas it was still closed. And they were testing out the machines to see if they were all functional. That meant that nearly every machine with tickets had two or three ticket poking out of them. So Dani and I spent maybe $10 (was it?) in 20c coins, went to all those machines, and got about 259 tickets, 50 of those had to be “free tickets”. There was a whack-a-hippo game where one of the hippo’s head was cracked. I’d hate to have been around the person who did that.

We were late to our movie, which was Sex Drive, a teen movie. We sat down, and there was one other white guy in the audience two rows behind us. What a premier for the movie. But the thing is, while not being particularly deep or substantial, and being rather predictable, it was funny, touching, and it had Fall Out Boy in it. And they made fun of the Armish (sp? You know the people who don’t believe in technology). Even though Poor Dani was sniffing throughout the whole thing from her cold, I think she managed to enjoy the movie. I laughed particularly hard when, at the end, the protagonist Ian was in his Donut suit (he works in a donut shop and it’s a mascot) and the police came as Ian was holding a gun to the guy who was trying to steal his brother’s car, which Ian stole. The police tried to taser Ian but the suit was made from foam so nothing happened, then the police tried to capsicum spray him but the cop pointed the spray in the wrong direction and sprayed himself in the eyes.

I love slapstick shit like that.

After the movie we took a tram back to Dani’s apartment, where I nearly fell on some poor lady sitting down, due to the tram’s breaking (Dani laughed and called it Karma just because I said it was Karma that made her have a cold) and one someone’s Nokia ringtone went off…

Marco, Dani and I went to Nandos for lunch. I had the extra hot chilli sauce, and Dani had ketchup (weeeeeeak) and she ate more chicken than I did which is good because I wanted her to get nice and fat. Like Gretel from Hansel and Gretel. Because then I could “eat her”. I forgot to call Jen to tell her I couldn’t make Strings rehearsal (not that I planned to in the first place). We went back to her apartment where she and I napped (I tried to nap but I don’t sleep well in heat and someone else’s bed). She took some cold pills and got a bit mental. Actually that part was great. You should see Dani when she’s gotten a bit funny from cold medicine. Dani had stuck glow in the dark stars onto the mattress of the bunk above her, and we layed there trying to find shapes in the stars, and we found a lobster, and “that one there makes a triangle…”

After spending 2-3 hours just lying around (and yes Dani, I agree, we should spend more time while we can, just lazing around not actually doing anything but just enjoying each other’s presence. I did that with Bee and with you, and it was probably more relaxing than going to places and doing stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I still think bowling would kick ass) we got up, and Dani went to have dinner at this place on Clarendon (didn’t catch the name) and I had to leave halfway to go to the MIddle School Soiree.

That went well, despite being a huge waste of time. Unlike the Senior School Soiree (haha D.P.) we didn’t stuff up and everyone heard us (plus Mr Male my teacher played with us, and we were in the theatre). When we were waiting outside for our piece to start, Jen and I were sitting on the picnic table and it must’ve been maybe 6:45 – 7, because literally in 1 second, the heat was gone and the cool change settled in. I blinked and the weather changed. It was gorgeous. Fat, wet-smelling raindrops, the cool air that dried the stickiness off me, just running around the courtyard going for a drink and letting off pent up energy…on the way home I was at Domain Interchange and two druggies stood too close to me for comfort, so, ditching all efforts to be subtle, I moved to stand closer to this Asian family – it was Information Night for next year’s Year 9’s. Missed a train so had to wait another 30 minutes for the next one, dozed on the train, came home and just crashed.

But of course it was well worth it. I’d rather spend a whole 24 hours without sleep and with my friends than spend half a day at home by myself. I got up at 12 to text Dani happy birthday – a la me – and at past 6 a tremendous crack of thunder woke me up. I was a bit awake because the lightning flash had gone through my closed eyes, and then CCCRRKK-BOOOOM and then Bee called me while I was drifting back to sleep. She asked if the electricity had gone out at my place. I rolled out of bed, went to the light switch, flipped it on, looked around, flipped it off, crashed back into bed and said, “no the light still goes on”. After that i couldn’t sleep no matter how hard I tried, so I got up and here I am.

The rain is nice. I wish I could go have a walk in it but it’s actually rather cold.

De Fluffe, Out.
