He Takes Off Her Dress Now

[Mr Brightside – The Killers]

I really miss my old high school group. Not the ones who I still see often, as mentioned by a previous post, but the ones who I used to see everyday, take the train with everyday, and now I hardly even connect with. I’m talking about the names which older readers of mine came across as often as I used to say them: Bianca, Carmaine, Eunice… I remember when we had an acronym for the four of us!

I bring this up because today while I was cleaning a table at work, Bianca (who works two stores down) walked past me and gave me a bit of a friendly bump. I was having a bit of a moody day, because I’d expected a quieter day at work it being a weekday, but it was actually as busy as a weekend. Then, with just 5 seconds of Bianca and I exchanging a quick “hey!”, I instantly felt better. Maybe it’s mostly her face, but I really think it’s also because I had a reminder of a simpler and casual-er time when we would meet up after school and catch a train together (but not before stopping for a crepe or something first).

In other news, Amelia got her driver’s license today, so I’m prepping myself to finally be able to have her be my bitch and drive me around. Actually, that probably won’t happen, because you know, she has a life. But it’s still exciting to think we can actually go to different places for dinner, or go home later when I visit. MORE TIME TO SPEND WITH MEG!

MEG2MORE MEG IS ALWAYS A GOOD THING!

The Good Ol’ Times

I went to dinner with BRuCEĀ  (an acronym I haven’t used in MONTHS, so for those who aren’t familiar with it, it stands for Bianca, Ruyi (my Chinese name), Carmaine and Eunice. We were like the Awesome Foursome in high school. Alongside with these three, there were the two Danis, Dani and D.P., and Andrew.

It wasn’t that we had more laughs or anything like that – laughs are had with any group of good friends – but it was that familiar feeling. Like when you ride a bike after a long time not riding it and you realize, fuck yeah, bikes are awesome! Or when you discover some food you loved as a kid, and when you eat it you’re worried you won’t like it as much as you did back then, only to realize that the food is still great.

Everyone was as I remembered them – Eunice arrived late and shared enthusiasm over Bones and Glee, Dani was dressed well and had very random references to movies (and dressed well), D.P., ate a lot and was very happy all the time, Andrew made fun of Carmaine and myself but in the end was still the only guy there, Bianca was all smiles and knowledgeable insights and pleasured groans when eating cookies, and Carmaine was tall. Hahaha tall.

After nearly 8 months of not hanging out, I think it was this dinner that sort of re-opened that need for reunions and get-togethers – at least for me it was. I’m looking forward to the next time everyone managed to get some time off.

Anyway, I’m stuffed on carbohydrates – pizza and pasta for dinner – and I have a few more errands to run in anticipation for tomorrow (Steven’s BBQ) so I’ll cut this short.

Happy Birthday Carmaine, AGAIN!

Holy crap, a year passes really quickly. Your previous birthday still feels like it was last month. Except it’s weird how a whole year of Yr 12 passed and there were dramas and break downs and all that crap and yet I came out the other end still feeling like your 17th was last month. Weird, right?

Well, this is my 2nd timed post. I won’t be home to post this, which actually saddened me but at the same time I think this way it is much cooler. I know you’ll definitely read this because I’m going to bloody tell you to.

Happy 18th birthday, love. Have a wonderful day (hopefully not working). Jen and I will be back to celebrate your birthday next week. For now, stay safe!

I love you,

Alex.

happybirthdaycarmaineOkay, I actually can’t see my eyes. I thought you’d like that [grins].

We Were Just Kids In Love

I actually sat here for a long time trying to think of a suitable title, and then I gave up. So I just wrote in the first line of the chorus of the song I’m currently playing. I think maybe for this whole summer I’ll do just that, and I’ll pick songs from my summer playlist (that I haven’t made yet but I will, and I know this song will be on it).

So this song is:

Kids In Love – Mayday Parade

Sorry, Mai, but you inspired me to do this.

The downside of me doing this, of course, is that at a glance you wouldn’t know what the post will be about, just (if you happen to like my type of music) what song I was listening to.

This post will be a photo post. I just cleaned out my study and decided to take pictures of stuff I discover hidden away in piles of paper and books. Since in my study I basically chuck everything that I come across during the course the year (and, apparently, last year and some from the year before) I thought it would be a fun memory lane trip thing. (It also means that the page might take a while to load for people with slower internet. Although I’ve compressed all the pictures, they’re still over 100 kb each.)

pileofcrapThat’s what I started with.

pileofcrap2The crap I had in front of my computer. Note the 3 cool gadgets, in size order.

jokernametagMy English teacher needed to learn names. I thought the Joker thing was really snazzy.

jack'snotesAh, I couldn’t bring myself to throw out the folder of notes from Jack’s. It’s actually really heavy now.

htfailOmgsh, 31/50, FAIL SAC!

iloveaprilHere’s a visual of what I was writing about a few weeks back. April, as you can see, signed her name very “bigly”.

jess'scdOh, Pooki, Eunice, if you still read this…I still have it.

oorahMy lack of mid-year exams.

gadgetsandpolaroidJust. Plain. Awesome. Also, ignore the huge scratch on my screen protector.

<3beeI love it. I forgot what was in the letter (I didn’t re-read it) but I remember it was nice.

timetableSee those blanks? They were me walking around the library making people talk to me.

sodium12I = the entire known physical universe.

hardcoreSee, proof that I’m hardcore. Highlighted in bright pink are my misdemeanors.

FAilWas tempted to write “FAil” like I did last time but no.

supercandyHaha, April, remember this! This was at the start of Yr 11. The packaging made me rofl.

helpingfriendI drew this way back in 2007. Carmaine had sprained her ankle, and I drew this small comic depicting what would have happened if I had to move her because she couldn’t do it herself. Everything is to scale.

handupbriefDo you see the “hand up brief” one? It made the entire class chortle. That’s what she said.

methodsmessageIt’s blurry, but that message got me through some pretty rough Methods class.

photographsLook what I found! This was end of Yr 10, 2007. When I took the picture of the picture, my camera recognized our faces.

yaaplatesDom, Carmaine, remember these guys? I still haven’t opened mine haha.

anotherpileofcrapJust when I thought I finished, I turned around and saw this.

pileoftextualcrapI cleaned out that pile of textbooks that I couldn’t/didn’t sell. What do I do with them now? Seriously, someone tell me.

Sorry if I just capped someone.

Well, it was a pretty good trip down memory lane. There were heaps of stuff I chucked out that I didn’t take a picture of, for example the stuff we wrote for English at the start of the year that was meant to be about us. That wasn’t used.

2 favorite things I found were the comic of Carmaine and the photographs.

Alex.

Barista or Game-ah?

Just to catch people (who give a shit) up…

I’m applying for a job at about 5 different EB Games (I REALLY want to work there haha) and one at Gloria Jeans on Kingsway in Glen Waverley. I suppose either would be fine – GJs is ACTUALLY hiring whereas I’m just throwing hopeful hooks into EB Games – but I’m a bit iffed at GJ since I have dodgy balance and boiling water? Uh oh…

Who knows?

This is also for me to read back on much later next year and laugh at. Because by then I’d be hopefully working at one of the two. Or neither. Or somewhere at bloody least.

Alex.

P.S. JEN! SPANNA! I’m barely holding on! It was a close call last night…
