Turns out, you don’t NEED a brain!

Today I went to see Monsters Vs Aliens with Eunice and her brother Jason…in 3D!

It completely and utterly lived up to my expectations. You know how sometimes the trailers basically show the best parts of a movie? No way, not this one. Seth Rogen is amazing in this movie, his crazy dumb laugh carried B.O.B. off perfectly. That’s not to say Hugh Laurie didn’t do a good job as Dr Cockroach.

Dr Cockroach: We think the new Susan is the cat’s mee-WOW! [laughs nervously] …sorry.

Dr Cockroach: [seeing the core reactor] Oh. Em. Gee. (Eunice and I laughed so loudly in that part)

Dr Cockroach: [referring to B.O.B.] You must forgive my friend, but as you can see, he has no brain.
B.O.B.: Turns out, you don’t need one! Totally overrated. I don’t even need to [gasps for air] I FORGOT HOW TO BREATHE! Help me, Dr Cockroach! [shakes Dr Cockroach]
Dr Cockroach: Suck in, . B.O.B.
B.O.B.: [breathes in] Thanks Doc, you’re a lifesaver.

[awaiting certain death]
Missing Link: It’s been an honor to have known you, Dr Cockroach.
Dr Cockroach: The feeling’s mutual, my friend. [shakes hands]
B.O.B.: [solemnly] And I shall see you two. Tomorrow. For lunch.

If you liked those quotes, then you should seriously go see the movie. You will love B.O.B. I totally guarantee it. The designers of B.O.B. probably went, “Physical impossibility? I’ve never heard of it!” and just went ahead and had fun with it.

Anyway, after the movie, Eunice’s mom dropped us off at Glenny station, Eunice went on her way to the city for a mentor thing, and I went to the library to research for Ben Cousins. Didn’t get far, because the Monash library doesn’t have an archive of newspapers, but I did go onto an online resource and also tomorrow will go to State and see what’s going on there.

Then I went to Cafe Moretti, the newish one that opened where Paintright used to be near the library (Paintright was there about 3 years ago it took a really long time for the place to open. Originally it was going to be an Asian restaurant but clearly that fell through). Had a bacon and onion omelet with cappucino, read some of Hitchhiker’s Guide (I really should finish that book) and then went to the Glen for the sake of just being in there. As I was going to the bus stop to go home, I ran across some Brentwood friends so we chatted a bit at the lights, then took the bus home. I think I got sunburnt again. I really need to grow some tougher skin.

Seeing Cathy tomorrow, and the Comedy Festival. Can’t wait.

Happy Easter

I don’t really celebrate easter, but seeing as this post doesn’t have a central theme, I might as well wish everyone a happy, fun but mostly SAFE easter. Sure the road death toll isn’t that crazy high, but you don’t know the number of people who are maimed for life. They’re never mentioned.

Today I got up with a bad scratched throat. I thought to myself, “oh shit, you’re getting glandular.” Well I still don’t know if this is glandular I’m just going to hope it’s a bad cold.

Anyway, I was reading about how Dom played Tetris on the DS a lot so I decided to down  – ahem buy legitimately – the Tetris game on DS. On my way, I also bought Monsters Vs Aliens the game, some random Naruto game, and this:

Dani was the one who introduced me to this. It’s one of those rhythm games, like Guitar Hero or DDR. It’s quite addictive, with many levels and TB voices and it even has, as one of the tracks, the Mario themes, as well as all the oldies video game themes.

Tomorrow is Eunice’s baptism. And then after that I’m going to Chadstone to find sweaters and a bag. But damn I hate feeling sick.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Monsters Vs Aliens, seeing as in the video game, B.O.B. (voiced by Seth Rogen) is SO MUCH FUN TO PLAY AS! He just randomly blobs around and swallows random crap. And we all know movies are 10x better than games. That’s why I’m not going to play much of the game until I’ve seen the movie.

Otherwise, life is fine. I tried FaceStalking yesterday. It was morbidly interesting (er…morbid may not be the word, I just meant there was a morbid fascination). I knew what I was doing was oh-so-beneath me but I still did it anyway. It wasn’t hard. And no Carmaine, I’m not referring to my reading your comment to Bee. I meant…someone else.

And Cheryl is addicted too. Haha. I win. And she took quizzes just like I did. And my quizzes came up with funny answers. I’m apparently a baby dyke who, while being unperverted, is ready to try anything in the bedroom in the heat of the moment.

Be afraid.

Dr Manhattan vs Heck

Yesterday I went to see Watchmen with Carmaine. My title was just a reference to the fact that the actor who acted as Ozymandias, Matthew Goode, was also Heck from Imagine Me And You. Heck was a very nice bloke who had the misfortune to marry Rachel who falls in love with Luce, but Ozymandias tried to salvage humanity being all hardcore and super killer and philosophical. So it was amusing for me. Plus Ozy’s accent confused me.

I went to have lunch with Dani and Andrew first, at Red Silks (FINALLY! It’s a pretty good place) and Wins- came later. We talked for a bit, I tried to play TapTap Revenge 2, and then we went to Dani’s place. I stayed only for a bit because at 3 I had to meet up with Carmaine at Melb Central, under, of course, the clock. (I still remember the time when Jen literally waited UNDER THE CLOCK and it took me a few minutes to see her) Dom and D.P. were there so we chatted for a bit but I was late so we rushed upstairs – I started going downstairs by accident, habitual you see – and bought the tickets and popcorn and sat down to a rather filled cinema.

I don’t think I will give a review of Watchmen, mostly because I haven’t yet understood a lot of the things that happened. But I will say the gory parts were definitely good…I mean gory. Guts, blood, severed hands, oo-rah. Plus Dr  Manhattan is a fucking gun! I can see why they say he was God.

Yesterday was pretty cold too, which was lovely because I had my warm jacket with me. It was black, and so was Dani’s outfit, and so was Andrew’s. Walking down Swanston was interesting, as all three of us were pretty much black.

Not much going on from this point on, until next Tuesday when I watch Monsters Vs Aliens with Eunice and some of the younger siblings she is associated with. I can’t wait until Thursday, because Cathy and I are going to finally hang out again! Oh and see Comedy Festival, of course.
