And since we’re being honest, I feel I should tell you

[Between You And I – Every Avenue]

Big day yesterday.

Got serenaded while being asked out by one hell of a girl called Amelia (ahh it all makes sense now, doesn’t it, reader?) who only picked up the guitar about half a month ago. She wrote the song herself (with some help from Brendan and Cindy). She refuses to send me a copy of the lyrics, but basically it was the sweetest thing anyone has EVER done for me. Bar has been set damned high.

Haven’t stopped smiling for about 48 hours.

Spent a whole day with her today when she went to a job interview. Pretty much stoked and excited to have someone I can just hang out with all the time and go do things with.

You’re probably not going to be graced with a moody post for a while! Fingers crossed, at least.

Burn Another Bridge, Break Another Heart

Lost this song and finally got it back yesterday. Missed this song a lot!

Heading into the annoying period of exams. I think I’ll be fine but I do have to get my ass into gear to start studying a little. Also, one essay.

I did enrollment stuff for 2011 yesterday, and the subjects I picked meant that Semester 1 will once again be full of writing, and Semester 2 research. I kinda hate that. But near as I can tell, I won’t have a single exam next year. Just. LOTS OF WORDS.

I have beaten the Elite Four.

I simply cannot wait til I am done with my exams. Then it is 15 posts a month on this blog, right? I have been neglectful.

Let Love Be Our Light And Salvation

[Looking For Angels – Skillet]

I’m currently listening to this song, and as I was listening (I never have listened to this song closely) I finally realized what the lyrics were saying.

In Creative Writing, our current assignment is about poetry, and we have to write our own poetry. I am trying to get the inspiration to start writing, and just get used to the voice I will need.

This song seems to provide some very good inspiration, on an emotional level at any rate.

Walk this world alone try to stay on my feet

Sometimes crawl, fall, but I stand up cause I’m afraid to sleep
And open my eyes to a new day, with all new problems 4. and all new pain
All the faces are filled with so much anger
Losing our dignity and hope from fear of danger
After all the wars, after settling the scores, at the break of dawn we will be deaf to the answers

There’s so much bigotry, misunderstanding and fear
With eyes squinted and fists clinched we reach out for what is dear
We want it we want
We want a reason to live
We’re on a pilgrimage
A crusade for hope
Cause in our hearts and minds and souls we know
We need it we need
We need more than this

Going through this life looking for angels
People passing by looking for angels

Walking down the streets looking for angels
Everyone I meet looking for angels

So many nations with so many hungry people
So many homeless scrounging around for dirty needles
On the rise, teen suicide, when we will realize
we’ve been desensitized by the lies of the world
We’re oppressed and impressed by the greedy
Whose hands squeeze the life out of the needy
When will we learn that wars, threats, and regrets are the cause and effect of living in fear

Who can help protect the innocence of our children
Stolen on the internet with images they can’t forget
We want it we want
We want a reason to live
We represent a generation that wants to turn back a nation
To let love be our light and salvation
We need it we need

We need more than this
I became a savior to some kids I’ll never meet
Sent a check in the mail to buy them something to eat
What will you do to make a difference, to make a change?

What will you do to help someone along the way?
Just a touch, a smile as you turn the other cheek
Pray for your enemies, humble yourself, love’s staring back at me
In the midst of the most painful faces
Angels show up in the strangest of places

Rip Down All The Picture Frames Of My Life

…this time we’ll leave this town.

I personally blame Carmaine for this, but a nice blame sort of way. Like a friendly ha-ha-damn-you kind of thing.

This is the Big M ad (the one where they’re driving around, riding on bikes in costumes they bought at a garage sale, and then they jump on the milk cartons). It’s very summery. I think I will enjoy playing this song over and over again this summer.

Lucky

Lucky – Jason Mraz ft Colbie Caillat (I can’t spell it right haha).

First introduced to me by Joey. Thereafter by various other people in love with the song. Now I love the song too! I just don’t have my own copy, so I will start asking around for it.

The video I have embedded is not, of course, the original music video. I’m sure you’ll get to watch the music video on Video Hits pretty soon as it will (if it hasn’t already) become very popular. This video is of Lucky being covered by those two awesome Asian folks, and both their voices are amazing!

And, just so it is made easier for other people, I’ve included the chords for this song. I got it off Ultimate Guitar, so all creds go to whoever tabbed the song (sorry I forgot your screen name!)

/edit It has occured to me that the chords are not over the right words where you change them. Figure it out, it’s not hard.

Rhyming rhyme with time…

I’m hitting a dry spell for blogging material. So I dredge up stuff from my files.

Okay, so this time, it’s something that some of you might’ve read already (and then forgotten, which is okay, because I’ve forgotten who I’ve shown).

I wrote an “emo song” earlier this year. There’s no music to it yet (I asked Ca- but she never got back…) so anyone who wants to, go ahead.

I won’t write another sad song
Because I didn’t shed a tear,
I won’t argue who was right or wrong
Or who was and wasn’t there.

I won’t say it was you
I won’t place any blame
But now I’m through
Playing this polite game

I’m letting you know…

I’m moving on
You were nothing to me, you meant nothing to me
I’m staying strong
Just so I can come back to show you that I’ve moved on.

You said you liked me,
Said you cared for me, and then you stab me
Right in the back
Infidelity, inconsistency, in an unforgiveable way.

Now I’m over you
I’m through with you, I’m fighting proof
Of a hating heart
A vengeful start, a bleeding shard, a world of gray.

And now you know…

I’m moving on
You were nothing to me, you meant nothing to me
You were wrong
And now I’ve come back to prove you that I’m moved on.

If hate is blinding, my world is black
If revenge is sweet, then my tooth is that
If lies are no longer white, then love is no longer war
If this is all there is, what is our heart fighting for?

I’m moving on
You were nothing to me, you meant nothing to me
You weren’t worth it
You weren’t worth the words you spoke (nothing to me)
You weren’t worth these words I wrote (nothing to me)
You weren’t worth the air you choke (I’ve come back to show you, to prove to you)
I’ve gone and moved on.
