If We Only Die Once, I Wanna Die With You

[Something I Need – OneRepublic]

As of yesterday, I’m being taught and trained to make coffees at our cafe as well! This is very exciting because once I’m taught coffee (and become proficient at it), I’m basically able to take care of the whole store (to a degree, I suppose). RESPONSIBILITIES! It also means that I’m expected to work a lot faster than I used to, and to be able to look after other coworkers and help them out. A little daunting, I admit, but the prospect of power just sizzles me with excitement.

Also, I found out that I picked up the basics quite easily, and now it’s a matter of practice, practice, and more practice, until I become as fast as my supervisors, and make beautiful coffees too.

That’s just a small update on what’s been happening since last week. I’ve been playing Pokemon Y, obviously. The game is astonishing and it mostly hit everything I expected, and considering I was building my own hype for about 8 months, it would have been near impossible for the game to actually match my expectations. As always, my slow playing habits mean that everyone who I play with are ages ahead of me, and the battles I do with them are very one-sided, but I won’t let that detract from my enjoyment of my little piece of gem.

I’m also been accepted and offered a place in the courses that I applied for! Now it’s a matter of accepting the offers myself, applying for student loans and whatnot, and getting all ready for conscientious studying. If I learned anything from all the time I spend at work now, it’s that I’m fully capable of not just learning the basics but being really good at it, as long as I put my whole mind to it. I don’t know, though, I mean there are all sorts of new games to play in 2014!!!

On Saturday, Mela and I went to a friend’s birthday party in Essendon, and it was her first time driving into the city. The way home was extremely scary for both of us, because there were lots of cars, and we didn’t know the way at all, and was blindly following the GPS which repeatedly told us to merge into wrong lanes, so she was doing scary turns out of lanes last second. I think it will be a while before she’s confident enough to drive in the city, but for the most part she’s a very capable driver! Maybe I should brush up on navigating skills…

Also, today I shouted my parents lunch. I don’t know about you, but in my family, as I am the only child, there aren’t many times when I buy my parents things – they’re also the kind of parents who don’t really want things bought for them. So today we went to a new Japanese restaurant that opened and I footed the bill. Felt pretty good!

I’m heading off to sleep now, because tomorrow/today is my Dad’s birthday, and we’re having people over. That means I need to clean up my spread of junk food and USB cables since my little corner in the house is actually the entertainment area.

I’ll try to blog again soon, mostly because I feel like I should. But also because lately Serena and I haven’t been talking, and maybe if I blog she and I can discuss my posts. That may be optimistic.

MLIA, I’m Hanging Onto You!

So today was another “study session” with Jen at State library. I’ve given up on saying it’s a real study session. Who’re we kidding?

Met up at 9:30 UCMC (by the way, that term never has and never will catch on, will it) and went upstairs to Gloria Jeans, where we both got one of those Iced Tim Tam drink things. Discussed losing weight and fatness for a while, and then we went to State at around 10, past 10 ish.

Went in (it was very cool. Way to pay attention to global warming, guys) and started trying to study for Legal Studies. Two minutes in, we fell into a coma. So we played some games on our iPods (speaking of which mine still isn’t fixed, I still can’t link it to my computer. Can anyone help?) and repeatedly said “Okay we HAVE to study we HAVE to study” and then we didn’t.

At around 12 Jen felt hungry so we went out to a Vietnamese place on Swanston Street. I had Pho (Not Pris. She comes later) and Jen had some broken rice thing. It was hot so I decided to treat myself to a VB. When I ordered it, the guy looked at me and said, “are you old enough to drink?”

“Yes.”

“Okay.” And then went away with our order. That was some epic ID checking right there. If only nightclubs did the same, right?

“Are you old enough to grind in an over-age venue?”

“Yes.”

“Okay.”

“Are you old enough to drive?”

“Yes.”

“Okay.”

I decided to be cool and ate some of the chilli that came with the Pho, and bit down on the seeds. It was…interesting.

Went back to State afterwards, and it was really really really hot. Went to the Games Room and played Wii for a while, where Jen owned me in Wii Tennis and Bowling (shh). Then Pris called me, and her and Carmaine came along, with Dom following (well Dom…would have been there regardless…did you know he dreamt about State Library? Duuuuude). Carmaine, Jen and I played Little Big Planet (Jen and I took one control, where Jen was direction and I was jumping etc) and Pris and Dom played Wii. Then they got bored and joined us at Little Big Planet.

I helped figure out how to hold onto things, and spent quite a lot of the time hanging onto Carmaine’s character while she dragged me around. Then we came across a trap where it’s a ghost thing that floats up and down, and if the ghost thing covers your character you die. She got annoyed at me hanging onto her (well hell it was fun.) and aimed it so that the ghost covered our character but not hers. We died, she didn’t. She laughed evilly.

And then I’ll skip how good Dom is at the game.

And then they left to study, and Jen and I actually studied. We went through a practice exam orally (dude, don’t) except I think it was an easy exam because we did it really easily. Studied a bit more, and then played on iPod again.

Jen needed to charge her iPod, so I went to get my recharge cord out of the locker. Except 4 hours was up by then, so I had to pay an extra dollar for another four hours, but only needed 1 hour. Then, this happened (and I submitted it to MLIA, so hopefully you’ll see it):

Today, I was annoyed at having to pay a dollar for another four hours on a locker when I only need it for an hour more. I put in my two dollar coin, and heard my change fall into the slot. Reaching in, I came back with 2 one-dollar coins; the previous user had forgotten to take their change, thus giving me a free hour on my locker. I felt like State Library was apologizing for making me pay. MLIA.

It was awesome.

Left at around 4 and went to JB. They didn’t have the headphones I wanted. Said bye to Jen and went to Big W. They didn’t have the headphones I wanted. Went back to Melbourne Central and bought a Monster energy drink with the 2 dollars I then had because of above, drank it on the train home (shouldn’t have done it) and then at Holmesglen these bunch of fobby TAFE students came in loudly talking in Chinese about how they fail in English (agreed).

Tomorrow, I have my Legal exam. And then after that only Chinese which I frankly don’t even worry about anymore. Maybe I’ll write 1 or 2 more practice essays and I’m done. I’m so glad the exam period was as scary as I feared – but it was still pretty shitty.

What I did today…

Right, so I took a day off school on the basis that:

1. I only had 2 classes, none of which were SACs (no messy forms to handle)

2. I wasn’t feeling too crash hot this morning and didn’t want to infect anyone.

3. I need more time to prepare for my SACs (but seriously the first 2 were the more important ones).

So today I didn’t waste my precious time. I caught myself up with Merlin, I slept in soundly, I did Legal notes and I did English notes, and you may have noticed I revamped my blog. Thanks to Carolyn for her contributions on the music player. Hopefully my choice of music doesn’t put anyone off (it shouldn’t; I’m awesome).

A lot of schools have closed down, but MacRob hasn’t, which is infuriatingly stupid. I hope our school will see the danger soon.

Otherwise, all is well. I hope everyone else has been keeping healthy.

My stats spiked up in the last few days because people had been coming in to read about the swine flu. There is obviously nothing to read, so I’m sorry about that, but the stats are nice.

Alex.

It’s all good…

As expected a lull in my enthusiasm to do well has appeared. I’m finding myself not doing anything this afternoon because I hadn’t taken home the reading I should do for English or English Language. I suppose I’ll do them tomorrow. I’m slightly ahead in Methods, thanks to Jack, and I’m on par in Legal, as are everyone else. Chinese hasn’t started kicking in yet.

I wasted my triple free this afternoon. I doubt I will next week. I should’ve done reading. Instead, though, I hung out with Nug, which in itself wasn’t too bad. I like hanging out with that girl, she’s always up for a decent laugh.

I drew 2 pictures on the Common Room board today, I don’t know if anyone’ll notice or like it (seeing as maybe someone might rub it off…aw). One was Nug being sick (or Doojed, as it should be pronounced), and the other was a Pon & Zi character. I signed them both as D.F. so people who read this blog might know.

Settling into school-life is rather synonymous with “not much to blog about”. I don’t think anyone would want to hear about what happens at school. Besides, everyone’s still into that “gotta study” phase, and until that wears out not much fun will happen. I haven’t really hung out or been around my form’s group much, I’ve spent more time with Dani. I think she needs it, poor sod’s been separated from her “joined-at-the-groin” Hamwu.

I’ve done something odd to my right elbow. I can’t bend nor straighten it to its limit, which is a worry. It’s constantly sore, and gone a tad swollen. Maybe I picked up something too heavy? There are a few other ailments as well; Nugen (Doojed) is drastically ill from not having dried her hair at camp (neither did I but I’m okay). My princess had a headache and went home early, leaving me to take the train with the Yr 11s, which, admittably, isn’t too bad. Carmaine says she reckons she’s coming down with something (or something along those lines of not being 100% peachy), and Vasper (ha in joke) is feeling crummy as well. I have to be careful. I mean, aside from the fact that my “ee-byood zisdub” is rather the awesome, I still have to be careful. Which reminds me, I should go put on socks soon.

Keep Cool (and in your heart the 131 confirmed so far, and the many to come, who have lost their lives in the darkest weekend Victoria have come across thus far)

A “HOLY CRAP!” Day

So two major events happened today:

1, VCE results came back and 2, I finally got out of the house again.

I guess technically my day started yesterday at 11:30 pm when I was just finishing brushing my teeth, and Carmaine called my phone, possibly waking up both my parents. I called her back, and she asked if I wanted to go out tomorrow (today).

So I woke up today at 7, and I won’t bore you with complaining about how my parents took my study score for my VET Multimedia (which was 40), and I called Carmaine to wake her up and tell her I was coming. After my parents left, I watched 2 episodes of The Office online and had a shower (forgot to close the bathroom window when I left the house, very stupid mistake that thankfully didn’t allow bad things to happen). Took the bus and at the station saw “Pooki” and “Tee Tee” (I don’t actually call him “Tee Tee” but Pooki does) and then Nat. Carmaine came and we sat in the same carriage but Pooks and Tee sat apart from us. The whole train ride was just reporting and exchanging our knowledge of other people’s scores. To respect their privacy I won’t report it here.

At Melbourne Central Nat and Carmaine took me around shopping and Carmaine got shown some makeup things and then her and Nat both bought matching rings at Diva. Miss D- randomly calls me up to congratulate me and to ask for permission to put my name on the newsletter, and all I can think about is “how did you get my number how did you get my number?”

Said bye to Nat under the Clock, met Dani, and went to Flinders Lane to try to catch a bus to Port Melbourne. Bus…didn’t come. Took a tram. Got rather lost, but was blessed with a pretty awesome stroll down Port Melb beach. Saw D.P. and Hobo at their workplace (HOLY CRAP THEY HAD DR PEPPER!), had lunch (Jalapenos on pizza (sorry can’t find the accent) which D.P. can’t say or eat) and then went down further after their lunch break finished.

We wanted to go to this warehouse sale, where they played awful music and this pregnant chick was smoking outside (Holy crap idiot). Dani and Carmaine shopped around, but didn’t buy anything. The point is, finding the warehouse was shit hard. We got off the bus, stood in front of a map (after finding the map), found “You Are Here” and then Dani proceeded to navigate. It got to the point where I had to laugh and say “three chicks navigating” because Dani was standing in front of the map with her back to it, going “Okay, so North is that way, and that’s a Post Office, and that’s a Youth Centre (Community Centre, actually) and so if we go down there…” and all the while pointing and gesturing (holy crap).

On the way to the warehouse we found an abandoned construction site and at the gate it said “please report to front office before entering” so I shouted into the site “we’re coming in!” Carmaine took some photos at the gate, and then I found a “Is Don, Is Good” sign but Dani wouldn’t take it with her (even though I suggested to change “Don” to “Dani”). We got to the warehouse…got out of the warehouse, made jokes about a large “Breathing Apparatus” that was the firetruck (holy crap that would be some bitch to carry), made jokes about a broken umbrella stuck on the fence (holy crap that was an umbrella?) and took a bus back into the CBD.

On the way back, we passed the Yarra River and Dani said “god the Yarra River is ugly” and without missing a beat I said “No that’s your reflection” (SNAP). I think we scared 2 passengers off the bus.

We got off at Bourke St, and then at that point it was a blurry mess of trams and op shops and Salvos and two hobo guys drunk and singing “I’ve been everywhere man, I been to up yer arse, pigs arse, har har har” and then we went to more factory outlets and op shops at Dani got a top and a faulty skirt and at some point I think PTSD took over and I can’t remember much until we got back to Flinders St at around 5 pm and I was so tired.

On the train home Carmaine snoozed and jerked, a lot. Sorry mate, had to put it in here. It was endearing.

I walked home after taking the bus. I am so bushed right now which is why I’m cutting what would be a long post short.

Oh oh I just remembered this one instance. We were at a shoe shop and Dani said that the clerk is a lesbian. I said “You can’t just assume that.” She took a look at her and said “Come ON!” and I said “Don’t ‘Come on’ me.” And then Dani laughed and said “haha that’s what she said”.

Ah. Ha. Ha. Ha. I had more that’s what she said moments today as well. Like Gingerbread man and how “Carmaine can’t be a gingerbread man because she doesn’t have sugary buttons on her front”.

A-nyway.

So I came home, had a quick dinner, watched HIMYM, then I called Bee for about an hour (god I shudder at the phone bill) then called a couple more people scouting for score infos.

Okay, so even though I said I’d keep it private…

A friend of mine from Chinese school got 50 for her Chinese, RAW. RAW. RAW!

RAW! Do you have any idea how hard that is? If you did Chinese you would. But if you didn’t…it’s FUCKING HARD! It’s HOLY CRAP HARD!

Anyway, that’s it for today. Sorry I got a bit wishy washy at parts and just skimmed over bits. To everyone who I called or who told me their scores: Dudes, congrats! And even if you were one of those “I did shit” or “I am a bit disappointed” ones…if you did your best, that’s it. And if you didn’t, you still have next year to do better, and you’ll be making a harder effort, and if that was your final year: YOU FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL! You finished a whole SAGA of your life! Congratu-fucking-lations man!

I am proud of you, Princess, and of you, Crazy Ninja (HA) and of you, Euny-baby, and of you, D.P. and of EVERYONE! Gawd I…some of the scores BLEW ME AWAY! It’s like flowers suddenly blooming and showing their amazing potential. It’s so awesome to watch it. Next year, next year. /edit, and proud of you too, “Shaken, not stirred”. I can’t believe I left you out sorry honey!

Oh and congrats to my “Savage Garden” buddy (ya know who you are) for her amazing 99.35 ENTER!

De Fluffe, OUT! (And about to fall asleep)

P.S. Just did the categories and tagging. Lol that I clicked nearly every category I have.
